The Iowa cheerleaders are a co-ed squad which leads the crowd and performs at Iowa football, volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, wrestling and other athletics events deemed necessary by the Iowa Athletics Department.
Iowa cheerleaders are student-athletes who devote 15-20 hours every week to practices, games, strength training, special appearances, camps and competitions.
Iowa cheerleaders come from a variety of backgrounds, including cheerleading, either in high school or at all-star gyms, gymnastics, football, track, wrestling and dance. Their academic majors and minors cover many subjects. All squad members are great crowd leaders, tumblers, stunters, base/top pyramids and represent the University of Iowa.
