About:

The Savage Hearts are a fiery stage act that feature in a spicy tribute to the unsung women of classic country and bluegrass music. Featuring Iowa’s prodigal daughter-returned from Colorado’s Front Range, Annie Savage and members of local favorite Flash in a Pan, the band’s drill-it-to-the wall lady-vocals and bombastic instrumentals blended with just the right amount of saucy “been there done that” stage banter has audiences laughing and crying at the same time! Virtuosic instrumentals soar above vocals that are hotter than the punch of a ghost pepper in the middle of a hot flash. The Savage Hearts have recently appeared at Folk Alliance International, the IBMA World of Bluegrass and throughout the US and Canada. They are celebrating their second album release this summer and you too can be a part of the action at www.thesavagehearts.com!

Opening for The Savage Hearts are the students of Liberty High School’s alternative string ensemble, Liberty String Theory. Directed by Annie Savage and Craig Klocke, these students are going beyond the normal orchestral experience in search of “Total World Domination Through Vibrating Wooden Boxes”. They recently performed with Peter Rowan, Laurie Lewis and New Orleans’ Don Vappie at Seattle’s Wintergrass Festival and they have a busy schedule of gigs this summer. Comprised of high school students who also learn the tricks and trade of the real life music industry through touring and promoting their work, the Liberty String Theory will be joined this evening by local bluegrass outfit Dillon’s Furrow.
