Changes to Our Festival Season

Summer of the Arts

We are reworking our events to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our community. This is our top priority, and we will continue to follow all City of Iowa City and State of Iowa public health directives.

Summer of the Arts is doing its part to flatten the curve by cancelling and modifying some of our beloved programming.  Here are the changes we are making in light of COVID-19:

  • Virtual Friday Night Concerts: Thanks to a partnership with the Iowa City Public Library and City Channel 4, we will offer live virtual performances of the Friday Night Concert Series throughout June and July. Performances will start at 7 PM each Friday on our Facebook page.
  • Virtual Iowa Arts Festival (June 5-7): This will include performances, artist specials and interactive activities for you to do at home. Watch our Facebook page for  kids programming and new opportunities to continue our Carnival Parade tradition through mask making activities and more!
  • Virtual Iowa City Jazz Festival (July 3-5: We plan to again offer virtual performances through our Facebook page that weekend and will share more information as it is available. Please note that the City of Iowa City has canceled the fireworks scheduled for July 3rd.
  • Our Free Movie Series will be offering drive-in movies at the Iowa City Airport. Parking availability will be limited for these events. Watch our Facebook page or sign up for our email newsletter for details on how to register  for these limited capacity events.

We will continue to assess our festival schedule and will make updates as soon as possible to keep you informed.

Summer of the Arts

The 2015 Quartet was made up of saxophonist Charles Lloyd with Gerald Clayton, Joe Sanders and Kendrick Scott. The festival also included a screening of the Charles Lloyd documentary "Arrows Into Infinity" followed by a Q&A with Charles and his wife Dorothy Darr. Darr co-produced and co-directed the film. It was a truly special festival! Thanks to the presenting sponsor of the Jazz Fest -- GreenState Credit Union ... See MoreSee Less
