I am a watercolor, acrylic and oil painter who loves to study florals and vegetation. My aim is to capture the blooms and colors for year round enjoyment of botanicals.
We make fun unique pieces through a seven step process. Result is a colorful deconstructed painting.
I paint in oils on linen and canvas panels. I use a variety of techniques such as palette knife, brushes to create a painting full of light.
I choose natural subjects to magnify the spontaneity and unpredictability of watercolor as a medium. Some works combine the use of sumi ink, an Asian art technique.
I first draw out my whimsical scenes and silly characters with pen and ink. Then I fill in the inkwork with flat watercolor washes followed by colored pencil for the detailing.
I paint with encaustic wax, a process that involves fusing molten wax on wood panels with a torch. My art has many layers, often incorporating collage, dimensional textures, linework, & incision.
