About:  

Damani Phillips is a native of Pontiac, MI, and currently serves as head of the Jazz Studies area at the University of Iowa. An active performer and scholar, Phillips has performed, taught and lectured throughout the world. He has performed with artists/groups such as Lewis Nash, Christian McBride, Wycliffe Gordon, Bobby McFerrin, Marcus Belgrave, Terrell Stafford, Hank Jones, Red Holloway and Pat Bianchi among many others. Phillips will be joined by an exceptional band including two of Indianapolis’ finest in bassist Brandon Meeks, Iowa jazz alum Cassius Goens on drums along with Iowa jazz piano standout Steve Shanley (Coe College).
