Dusty Bottle (Iowa City, IA) plays a midwestern blend of original roots music and classics tunes as well. Steeped in vinyl records and corn liquor, Dusty Bottle brings an honest balance of piano, pedal steel, country, gospel, blues, whiskey, folk & soul. Roland Racevskis (University of Iowa Professor of French) is celebrated for his skilled and complete piano sound and serves as the band’s songwriter. He writes with a unique perspective that gives an honest take on everyday life observations of family, joy, struggle and heartbreak. Roland Racevskis, along with Billy Valencia are the heart of the outfit and often preform as a duo. Dusty Bottle is blessed with the brilliant pedal steel work of legendary Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member, Dale Thomas, and the Valencia/Bernemann/Valencia rhythm section proves seasoned, tight & versatile. Inspired substance with soulful improvisation. The bottle was dusty, but the liquor was clean.
