About:

Acclaimed by critics as “top-notch, intense, stylish, and with an abundance of flare and talent” and “one of the foremost young string quartets,” the Solera Quartet has quickly gained a reputation for their fiery musical expression, poetic sensibility, entrepreneurial acumen, and exceptional dedication to social initiatives. In collaboration with the non-profit organization Project: Music Heals Us, the Soleras’ Prison Residency Project brings interactive, thoughtfully-conceived chamber music concerts into incarcerated communities across the United States.

Member Meagan Brus is an Iowa City native. Comfortable both on the operatic stage and in concert, Ms. Brus’ career has included performances in the United States as well as Canada, Mexico, Germany, and Japan. Ms. Brus has been the soprano soloist in a myriad of musical styles, ranging from Alessandro Scarlatti’s opera, Venere, Amore e Ragione to Bizet’s Carmen, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 to Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire and Erwartung, as well as a classical arrangement of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.

Her May 2014 performance of Carson Kievman’s Fairy Tales prompted Greg Stepanich of the Palm Beach Arts Paper to write, “Brus… was remarkable as the Dandelion Woman. Brus’s performance was a tour de force in every way, with fresh, fierce power in abundant supply, a rock-solid command of an exceedingly difficult part, and an ability to hold onto her audience through some thorny terrain.” Ms. Brus holds degrees from both the Manhattan School of Music and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
