About:  

The West Liberty Varsity Jazz Band is comprised of students in grades 8 through 12 and rehearses two evenings per week. In January 2025, the band earned their second consecutive Division I Superior rating at IHSMA State Jazz Festival. The Varsity Jazz Band most recently attended the Iowa Jazz Championships in 2023. They look forward to performing in the Iowa City Friday Night Concert Series in downtown Iowa City on Friday, May 23rd.

About:  

Over 65 students perform in three jazz ensembles at Iowa City West High School.  The West High Jazz Ensemble has qualified for the Iowa Jazz Championships every year for the last 24 years. Every year, the band gets the opportunity to work and perform with nationally known jazz artists at the Jazz Café concert hosted in December.
